On May 26, three prisoners at the Ohio State Penitentiary Supermax prison on the East Side of Youngstown celebrated the sacraments of initiation.

YOUNGSTOWN – Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., has appointed Mary Fiala the diocese’s new superintendent of schools, effective immediately.

Fiala, who had served as assistant superintendent of schools for curriculum from 2011 to 2014, assumed the position of acting superintendent last November. Her appointment followed a nationwide search.
